MI Cape Town, the only team yet to win a match in the current SA20 season, would aim to clinch it by taking on Joburg Super Kings in their own backyard at a crucial juncture of the tournament.

It has been a mixture of so close and so far on a few occasions and a below average effort with the bat in some matches, including the last one, where the defending champions were bowled out for 88 runs against Parl Royals.

It will be up to the opening pair of Ryan Rickelton and Rassie van der Dussen to get the team off to a good start and lay a platform for the incoming batters to capitalize on.

Although MI Cape Town have hitters capable of getting the better of the opposition, they have not been able to do so, which is one of the reasons why the team has failed to win a match so far.

The presence of names like Reeza Hendricks and Nicolas Pooran The middle order makes MI Cape Town a strong team on paper, but the middle order has yet to work, costing the team games they should have won.

That said, it’s not all doom and gloom for the home team as players like Rashi Khan and Georges Linde showed that they can take the team over the line if they have a platform to do so in the last two overs.

However, the top five batters will have to take responsibility against JSK and score the bulk of the runs for the team in order to create pressure on the opposing bowlers.

Bowlers: Kagiso Rabada, Trent Boul

MICT’s bowling performances haven’t been very promising either, with bowlers putting up 10-15 runs and then what might have been a workable score in a few matches, without having enough runs to bowl in others.

Experienced fast bowlers Trent Boult and Kagiso Rabada were ineffective and were unable to pick wickets in the first six overs, also being expensive.

The duo hopes to rectify the mistakes they made during the tournament and pick early wickets for the team to create pressure on the JSK batters.

If Boult and Rabada are able to bat with the new ball in the first six overs, it will make things easier for the spinners, who have struggled to control the flow of runs in the middle overs.
