Arsenal ‘leading the race’ to sign another Max Dowman

Although it has not yet led them to major success, Arsenal have done a lot in recent years.

Support Mikel Arteta In difficult times when it was a matter of getting rid of players who weren’t doing their part and recruiting those who would, the club transformed itself.

It wasn’t just the senior side who were successful, as Hale End continued to produce sensational talent after sensational talent.

One of the most exciting youngsters to come out of the academy in recent times has to be Max Dowmanand now it appears Arsenal are preparing to sign a teenage phenom who could be another version of the 16-year-old.

Arsenal target another Dowman

In recent years, Hale End has produced more than its fair share of incredibly exciting homegrown talent for Arsenal, from Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe at the start of the decade to Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly last season.

This year, Marli Salmon and Andre Harriman-Annous had their chances in the first team, but the most promising academy product of all was Dowman.

The young Englishman has been incredible in pre-season, and before his recent injury suffered in a closed-door friendly, he became the youngest starter in the club’s history and the youngest player in Champions League history.

In other words, the 16-year-old is an exceptional talent, and it now appears that the Gunners are determined to sign someone who could be seen as another club’s version of Dowman.

At least that’s what a recent report reveals from club insider Hand of Arsenalwho claims that Arsenal are “looking to sign the highly talented Igor Tyjon from Blackburn Rovers”.

The report states that the club previously attempted to sign the teenage sensation last year but saw two offers, including one worth £2.2 million, rejected by the Lancashire outfit.

The good news for the Gunners is that, due to several new offers from Blackburn being turned down, he could be available for as little as £1 million this month and, as things stand, the north Londoners are “leading the race”.

It wouldn’t be a signing that would make an impact on the first team today, but still, given his potential and what those in the know say about him, Arsenal should do what they can to sign Tyjon, as he could be another Dowman.

Why Tyjon Could Be Another Dowman

Today, while there are many exciting young talents in the game, it would be fair to say that few of them have the same hype behind them as Dowman.

After all, he has already broken a club and UCL record, so to be compared to him you have to be pretty special.

Fortunately, Tyjon seems to be a very special player.

For example, in September 2024, respected talent scout Jacek Kulig boldly proclaimed the teenager Blackburn’s most talented “academy player since Adam Wharton.”

That’s not all, as he also declared the striker “the future of English or Polish football” due to his impressive abilities and chances of playing for either nation.

It’s not hard to see why Kulig would say that, as the Southport-born poacher has impressed in both youth sets and currently has three goals and an assist to his name in just five appearances for the Three Lions under-18s.

He also made an impact on Rovers’ youth teams, scoring nine goals and providing one assist in 22 appearances for the under-21s and even making three appearances for the first team.

But it’s not just his production that’s impressive, as an under-23 signing. Antonio Mango emphasizes that he “great movement and excels in sequencing plays.”

Additionally, he passes the eye test, with Mango praising his “creative flair”.

Ultimately, even though this isn’t a transfer that will impact the title race, Arsenal should do what they can to sign Tyjon, as he could develop into a Dowman-type star in the future.
