A strong 6.4 magnitude earthquake struck the Philippine Sea on Wednesday, according to the United States Geological Survey.
The quake occurred at 11:02 a.m. Philippine time, about 27 km east of Santiago, Philippines, according to agency data.
USGS data previously indicated the magnitude was 6.7.
As seismologists review the available data, they may revise the reported magnitude of the earthquake. Additional information collected about the earthquake could also prompt USGS scientists to update the shaking severity map.
