The Pakistan Cricket Board has extended its support to the BCB and backed its decision not to travel to India for the T20 World Cup. After this extended support, BCB, in a fresh statement, issued a clear warning of a referral to the ICC if forced to play in India.
The India-Bangladesh controversies have taken a new turn with the PCB backed by the Bangladesh Cricket Board following their revolt against the PCB’s long-time rival BCCI. Mohsin Naqvi poses a constant threat to the smooth functioning of the BCCI and has spared no effort in challenging the ICC.
Bangladesh’s choice not to play in India would complicate issues and could strain relations between the two boards. India’s tour of Bangladesh would also be canceled if such situations worsen.

In its war against the Indian board, the BCCI, and its actions, the BCB has received considerable support from the Pakistan Cricket Board. The PCB’s problems with the BCCI have intensified since the Champions Trophy, when they denied traveling to Pakistan despite several attempts to convince the Men in Blue to visit the country.
The Pakistan board then signed an agreement with the BCCI, whereby they would play their matches at neutral venues and neither team would travel to the other’s territory. Today, the PCB extended its support to the BCB.
They also assured the Bangladesh Cricket Board to approach the ICC, supporting their call to move the matches to Sri Lanka.
After the ICC asked the BCB to reconsider its decision and assured additional security to all players and support staff traveling to India during the T20 World Cup, BCB director Asif Akbar issued a public statement, which simply warned them of failure in the ICC T20 World Cup if the match venues are not changed.
“If we are forced to play in India, we will withdraw. We are ready to play in Sri Lanka instead,” Asif Akbar said.
“We have already made our position clear. This option is no longer open to us. Considering the Mustafizur issue and concerns related to our players, we remain negative about playing in India. However, we are ready to play in Sri Lanka,” he added.

In a recent report by ESPNcricinfo, it was revealed that the ICC had given an ultimatum to the BCB, saying that they must either travel to India for the World Cup or be prepared to risk points.
However, the BCB’s official statement clearly states that no such ultimatum has been issued and they are awaiting a response from the ICC end before giving their final verdict on the matter.
“Since the ICC is the custodian of world cricket, we will inform about our next course of action after receiving their response,” Asif added in his statement.
