Editor’s note: Odds may change closer to announcement.
THE Nuggets are the highest scoring team in the league, averaging 124.3 points per game. The Celtics are middle of the pack, averaging 117.9 points per game. Boston’s scoring has been much higher over the last 10 games, in which the franchise has scored around 120 points per outing.
Denver’s performance has remained consistent on the road, with the team holding an excellent 14-7 away record. Even without several key pieces, the Nuggets’ resilience will test Boston’s recent invincibility. In terms of head-to-head record, the Celtics hold a 62-40 advantage over Denver.
The Nuggets would need their role players to keep up the good show on offense and share the scoring load. Denver should also collectively control the glass to avoid giving Boston second-chance opportunities, which is one of the biggest challenges without Nikola Jokic.
The Celtics would need Jaylen BrownDerrick White and Anfernee Simons to handle the offensive load. Joe Mazzulla’s team needs to avoid a slow start to the game and keep the turnovers down low to keep the pressure on Denver.
The Nuggets listed Aaron Gordon (right hamstring sprain), Christian Braun (left ankle sprain), Jamal Murray (left ankle sprain) and Tim Hardaway Jr. (illness management) as questionable on Tuesday’s injury report. All four players, if cleared to play before the announcement, will be among the top five.
In the previous win over the Sixers, the Nuggets fielded a starting lineup consisting of Jalen Pickett, Bruce Brown, DaRon Holmes II, Peyton Watson and Spencer Jones.
Nuggets vs. Celtics depth chart:
The Celtics have all of their regular starters available to play against the Nuggets. In the previous game, Sam Hauser started in place of Jordan Walsh, with coach Mazzulla likely to stick with the same decision.
Payton Pritchard and Derrick White will lead from the backcourt, while Jaylen Brown will partner with Hauser on the wing. Neemias Queta will be Boston’s starting center.
Celtics depth chart vs. Nuggets:
Given their recent form, the Celtics are the clear favorites to win the match and extend their winning streak to five games. Health is another big factor tipping the scales in Boston’s favor, as the Nuggets are confirmed to play without Nikola Jokic, Cam Johnson and Jonas Valanciunas.
Playing at home also gives a slight advantage to Boston, who will benefit from the support of a raucous crowd. Expect the Celtics to overcome any challenge presented by Denver and record a victory by a double-digit margin. Final score prediction: Celtics win 118-107.
