Fletcher’s team frustrated by difficulties despite Sesko’s double

A dominant Manchester United were held to a 2-2 draw at Burnley in what was their first match since Dismissal of Ruben Amorim.

Darren Fletcher took charge of the match at Turf Moor but saw his equalizer turned over by Jaidon Anthony, after Benjamin Sesko’s double gave the Red Devils the lead in the second.

Even after falling behind to Ayden Heaven’s goal early on, United were the better side in a more traditional 4-2-3-1 formation and will be frustrated to come away with just a point, leaving them sixth in the Premier League.

Fletcher launches horror

Fletcher’s reign as caretaker boss got off to a disastrous start when Bashir Humphreys’ cross deflected off young defender Ayden Heaven and into the far corner to give Burnley the lead.

United’s first notable chance fell to Sesko, who headed straight at Martin Dubravka before a sensational goal-line clearance from Humphreys denied Casemiro’s header from a Bruno Fernandes free-kick.

The visitors then had the ball in the back of the net when Lisandro Martinez got wide before shooting past Dubravka, but the goal was scored for a defender foul on Kyle Walker seconds before.

Sesko breaks goal duck with quick double

Sesko was heavily involved in the first half, firing another poor effort at the goalkeeper before being denied by a brilliant save before the end of the half from several missed chances by United.

The £74 million man finally scored the goal that was expected, finishing superbly after being threaded through by Fernandes with an excellent pass, with United firmly the better team at the start of the second half.

Heaven then screwed a header wide when it should have hit the target before Sesko grabbed his second with a brilliant striker’s finish into the bottom corner to convert Patrick Dorgu’s cross.

Anthony Stunner takes Burnley to the level

But just when United looked to be taking control, Anthony cut inside before firing a brilliant equalizer into the top corner.

Sesko missed a golden opportunity to complete his hat-trick and score the winner, but the Slovenian missed his shot straight at the goalkeeper after a cross from the left.

Shea Lacey, just 18 years old, almost became the hero after curling a magnificent strike onto the crossbar as we approached the final 5 minutes of the match, before another audacious long range shot flew past the post with virtually the last kick of the match as the match ended tied.
