President Donald Trump suggested that he would be willing to arrest the governor of California Gavin Newsom if his administration hinders ice operations in the midst of the riots in Los Angeles on Monday.
Trump made the declaration in a brief exchange with journalists after landing from Marine One outside the White House. Fox News correspondent, the White House correspondent Peter DOOCY, asked Trump if he thought that Border Czar Tom Homan should take Newsom on his challenge to come and stop him.
“He dared Tom Homan to come and stop him. Should he do it?” Asked DOOCY.
“I would, I was Tom,” said Trump. “I think it’s great. Gavin likes advertising. But I think it would be a good thing. He has done a terrible job. I like Gavin Newsom. He’s a nice guy, but he is roughly incompetent. Everyone knows.”

Trump continued to say that many rioters and demonstrators in Los Angeles are professional agitators rather than real demonstrators.
“People who cause the problem are professional agitators. They are insurrectionists. They are bad people. They should be in prison,” said Trump.
Newsom quickly replied Trump’s comments in an article on social networks.
“The President of the United States has just called for the arrest of an in-office governor,” wrote Newsom. “It is a day when I hoped never to see in America. I don’t care if you are a democrat or a republican, it is a line that we cannot take as a nation – it is an undoubted step towards authoritarianism.”
Homan told “Fox & Friends” earlier on Monday that he had told a NBC journalist that “nobody was above the law”, but there was no discussion on Newsom stop at that time.
“What we have discussed is for the demonstrators who crossed the line … You can protest, you get your first amendment rights … But when you cross this line, you put your hands on an ice officer, or you destroy goods, or I would say that you are entailing the police, or that you nourish knowingly,” he said, “he said.
“”Then, the journalist asked me, well, Governor Newsom or the mayor’s basses could be arrested? I said, “Well, no one is above the law. If they cross the line and commit a crime, they can absolutely: “There was therefore no discussion on the arrest of Newsom”.
