There was a lot of drama on an exceptional Wednesday Premier League action with people like Tottenham, Villa Aston And Everton all in action.
Spurs traveled to Bournemouth desperate for a win to ease the pressure on Thomas Frank, while the Cherries themselves were looking to end an 11-match winless run.
Surprise title challenger Villa, meanwhile, was at Crystal Palace looking to close the gap on Arsenal at the top and end their own hoodoo against the Eagles, having failed to win any of their six games against Oliver Glasner as Palace boss.
Brentford had the chance to catapult themselves firmly onto the European stage against fellow surprise side Sunderland, with Everton hosting bottom-of-the-table Wolves.
Read on to see how all four matches played out and check out our full match reports for the main Premier League matches:
Antoine Semenyo scored a superb winner in what should be his final Bournemouth game to beat Tottenham 3-2 at the Vitality Stadium.
Struggling Spurs got off to the perfect start on the south coast when Xavi Simons’ backheel found Mathys Tel wide, before the Frenchman headed inside with what looked like a weak shot into the bottom corner, raising question marks over goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic.
But their joy was short-lived when in the 22nd minute Bournemouth equalized when Evanlison’s fine header from Marcus Tavernier’s cross flew into the back of the net, before Eli Kroupi Junior completed the turnaround from close range before the end of the first half.
The visitors thought they had a penalty to equalize in the second half after Mickey van de Ven fell in the box but, following a pitchside review, the penalty decision was overturned.
But Joao Palhinha finally equalized for Spurs with less than 15 minutes remaining with a simply sensational bicycle kick.
But it was outgoing winger Semenyo who finally grabbed the headlines with a finish from outside the box, showing exactly why Manchester City are set to pay £65million for his services to win the game for the Cherries and pile even more pressure on Frank.
Aston Villa missed the chance to close the gap on Premier League leaders Arsenal after being held to a 0-0 draw at Crystal Palace.
Ollie Watkins came closest in the first half when his chipped finish was thwarted by Dean Henderson before another effort was well blocked by Maxence Lacroix.
Palace entered the game in the second half and failed to take the lead after a goal-line melee which involved a brilliant block from Lucas Digne from close range.
Villa turned the screw in the closing stages and were inches away from going ahead when Watkins headed against the post.
Brentford moved up to fifth place in the table with a 3-0 victory over fellow Europeans Sunderland.
Thiago, fresh from a hat-trick at Everton, scored his 15th goal of the season when a simple long ball from Vitaly Janelt found the path of the Brazilian, who rounded Robin Roefs to give Brentford the lead.
And the in-form striker was on the scoresheet again after the break after Kevin Schade’s header after hitting the post was turned over to double the hosts’ advantage.
The Bees were firmly in control a few minutes later when the ball fell to Yehor Yarmoliuk who shot low to get the hosts’ third goal.
Nine-man Everton held on in the closing stages to draw 1-1 with Wolves, who extended their unbeaten run to three games to climb to seven points.
Everton found the breakthrough after 17 minutes when Tim Ireogbunam’s shot into the box following a corner was deflected by Michael Keane.
Highly-rated youngster Matheus Mane scored his second goal in as many matches to equalize for the Premier League’s bottom side, with the 18-year-old netting with a stunning finish.
Keane went from goalscoring hero to zero with seven minutes remaining when he received a straight red card in bizarre fashion for pulling Tolu Arokodare’s hair as the two headed for a header.
The Toffees were then reduced to nine men when Jack Grealish received a second yellow card, with the two bookings at odds to give the struggling visitors a huge chance of securing their first away win of the season.
