‘I think Guehi will stay,’ says Glasner

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has said he believes captain Marc Guehi will stay with the club this month before leaving as a free agent in the summer.

Manchester City and Liverpool have been linked with a move for the England international this month as his contract expires at Selhurst Park.

Newcastle and Liverpool came close to sign the centre-back over the past two summers and Glasner is confident he will stay until the end of the current campaign.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Glasner said: “If the offer had been high enough [last summer] and the club agreed and Marc wanted to go, then he would no longer be a Palace player.

“Last January it would have been the same. Every player has a price at which a club will sell him, especially when you are Palace because we are not at the end of the food chain in football.

“I think Marc will stay, but if he says ‘I want to stay’ and a club pays huge money with five months left on his contract, then any player would leave if you’re a club like Palace.

“I’m sure our president will ask a very high price for him, let’s see.

“I don’t know if Marc wants to leave. At the moment, when I see him playing, training, his commitment, we talk together quite often. I think the fans can be calm. But you never know what can happen in football.”
