A Georgia community is in shock after a deadly confrontation in a Target parking lot on Sunday. Matthew Traywick death and Tyler Linn in custody. What began as a routine shopping visit quickly escalated into tragedy, leaving a family grieving and a community wondering how a simple argument could end in such violence.
Police confirmed that Tyler Linn, 30, was arrested at the scene and now faces charges of murder and aggravated assault. Authorities say the confrontation took place at Target on Abercorn Street around 4:10 p.m., where officers found Traywick suffering from gunshot wounds. He was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after. Linn would have stayed at the scene until police arrived.
Traywick’s former employer, Vaden Automotive, shared their grief on social networks. “Matthew has been a valued member of the Vaden family for years,“, the company wrote. “Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, children and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time..” The Traywick family also launched a GoFundMe to help you support them as they go through this sudden loss.
Savannah officials said the shooting stemmed from an argument over a parking space. District 6 Alderman Kurtis Purtee explained, “The shooting occurred following an argument over a parking space..” Mayor Van Johnson added: “No disagreement over a parking spot, or anything else, should ever end in a loss of life. This needless and unnecessary violence underscores the daily pain felt by families in our city.»
Authorities also revealed that Linn had already served in the armystationed at Hunter Army Airfield as an unmanned aircraft systems repairer until leaving in October 2023 with the rank of Specialist. Police say the investigation The incident continues as the city tries to understand how a simple dispute turned deadly.
