The West Indies jack-of-all-trades Jason Holder left an honest opinion on the India-Pakistan conflict, and the way the players brought political issues to the cricket field caused a major upset for the Caribbean all-rounder.
The game of cricket has been largely affected by political conflicts between nations, and Indo-Pakistani altercations have constantly hampered both cricket boards. The PCB and BCCI have also been involved in various disputes in recent times, and some remain unresolved.
While cricketers from these two countries supported such acts, other cricketers from other countries found the matter to have gone too far. Jason Holder also expressed a similar opinion on the race for the Asia Cup trophy involving the Indian team and PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.
Your daily dose of cricket!
India And Pakistan are long-time rivals in the game of cricket. The two nations that were divided in 1947 with the independence of British India have since held grudges over several issues and fought wars to settle geopolitical disputes.
However, after the 2025 attack in the Pahalgam Valley in the Indian territory of Kashmir, the Indian government denied having friendly relations with the Pakistan Cricket Board. They also decided not to play any match against Pakistan, but the demand from broadcasters largely affected them.
The Asian Cup was marked by several controversies between the two teams, who objected to each other’s handshake requests, and players continued to attack each other on and off the field. However, things went too far when India denied winning the trophy from ACC chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who is also the PCB chief and holds a position in Pakistan’s Interior Ministry.
Players coming from outside to participate in the ACC or ICC tournaments of these two nations or in the franchise leagues of these nations have also been affected by the growing tensions between these nations. Last time during the IPL, Indian territory suddenly found itself under attack from Pakistani forces.
West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder, who has played franchise cricket in India and Pakistan along with the IPL and PSL, felt that such things are happening at too serious a level. Holder addressed the controversy surrounding the Asian Cup Trophy during his mention on the Game on with Grace podcast.
Jason Holder said: “I don’t like the India-Pakistan beef. I saw India win the Asia Cup and they didn’t go and accept the trophy. It’s just too much, man.” Jason Holder’s remarks come amid growing tensions between the BCCI and the BCB.

Jason Holder, the senior West Indies all-rounder, has played for several franchises in the IPL as well as the PSL. After playing for teams like Sunrisers Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, he continued to play in the PSL.
After the success with the PSL franchises, Holder again participated in the IPL auction, where he was bought for a whopping sum of INR 7 crores by the Gujarat Titans. The Titans have been waiting for a versatile player for a long time, and finally, he will be retained in 2026.
