From Manchester United’s perspective, the 1992 League Cup Final is remembered for two things.
Firstly, it was the club’s first ever triumph in the competition, as the Red Devils beat Nottingham Forest 1-0 at the old Wembley Stadium. Secondly – and perhaps just as affectionately – it gave the world that pre-match jacket, a technicolor time capsule of early 90s football fashion.
Even though the match itself can’t be replayed, the jacket can be relived – and that’s exactly what Manchester United are doing, alongside Adidas, restoring it in all its retro glory for a new generation of fans and fashion aficionados.
The design is pure vintage: a black base with bright turquoise sleeve panels and a bold abstract pattern in black, white and green on the bottom half. It features a classic Adidas text logo and a special commemorative patch: “League Cup Final, Wembley 1992.”

Football titles state that the re-release is expected in the first half of 2026 – and it won’t be the only blast from the past. United’s legendary ‘snowflake’ away kit from 1990-92, worn in the final itself, will also return.
More than three decades later, United are offering fans the chance to own two timeless pieces of club history: clothing that captures both a historic trophy victory and the fearless audacity of 90s footballing style.
