Woroniecki publicly denied any involvement in the murders of Andrea and Rusty’s children during a 2002 appearance on Hello America. However, he admitted to serving as a spiritual leader for Andrea and Rusty and said he “shared Jesus with them.”

Andrea was initially convicted of capital murder in 2002 and sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after forty years. However, the verdict was later overturned on appeal after it was revealed that forensic psychiatrist Park Dietz had given false testimony.

The case was retried in 2006, with a Texas jury finding Yates not guilty by reason of insanity.

Where does Andrea Yates live today?

Since Andrea was found not guilty by reason of insanity, it seems she is focusing on her mental health.

Andrea currently lives at Kerrville State Hospital in Kerrville, Texas, and has done so since 2007, according to People.

According to the hospital website“Kerrville State Hospital serves individuals who have been acquitted of a criminal offense and ordered by a court to receive inpatient mental health services.”

Each year she was given the opportunity to have her condition reviewed with a view to possible release, but she reportedly waived this right several times, and for good reason.

“She is where she wants to be. Where she needs to be,” Andrea’s former lawyer, George Parnhamsaid ABC News in June 2021. “And I mean, hypothetically, where would she go? What would she do?”

Five years earlier, Parnham had declared NBC News As of September 2016, Andrea was doing “remarkably well” and had no desire to leave the hospital. “She’s getting excellent care,” he said. “The hospital where she is, there is no barbed wire, there are no bars, there are no armed guards, no fences.”
