Kim Raver teased what Grey’s Anatomy fans can look forward to the rest of season 22 – and it looks like more big surprises are in store.
“A few scripts have arrived [recently] and I was like, ‘Oh, my God.’ It gets complicated and that’s how it is Grey’s Anatomy. I love him so much,” Raver said exclusively. Us every week before the show returns on Thursday, January 8.
The actress learned what will come with the rest of the casting.
“We all read what’s going on [during a table read]and I love it,” she shared. “Some of us are in business attire, some of us are in business attire. Then when we learn the information, it is a shock and surprise to all of us. We’re also like the audience, and then we look at each other and say, “This is really happening.” »
Raver, who has played Teddy since season 6, promised “really great” Grey’s Anatomy storylines – and revealed whether she had any concerns about her character’s fate.
“That’s the life of an actor,” she noted. “It’s just about trying to show up and do the work and follow the incredible stories that we give the writers. Especially with the fact that we always have these incredible cliffhangers. Nobody ever knows.”

Season 22, which premiered in October 2025, picked up after an explosion at the hospital. Teddy survived and went through major changes in his life, including her separation from her husband Owen (Kevin McKidd) and unexpected romance with Cass (Sophie Bush).
Off-screen, Raver has had the opportunity to direct several episodes of the series, including one coming later this month.
“I feel so lucky to have the incredible Debbie Allen as my mentor and that every time I direct another episode I learn more. I have an incredible team and this cast is incredible. This episode in particular [titled ‘Fortunate Son’] is much more condensed and really follows three of our main characters,” Raver teased. “It’s focused on Meredith and Nick – as well as Richard. Then Catherine and Bailey, I was able to really dive into it as well.
Raveur promised that the public is said to be “riveted” by what’s to come, adding, “There’s a cliffhanger, so I think it’s going to be really surprising. … I love being able to go there every day and being able to tell these stories from a director’s point of view. Every storyline leaves us with that quintessential Grey’s Anatomy vibe where you cry and laugh and the residents are so good. There’s a lot of shenanigans going on with them. It’s really an exciting episode.”
Raver continued: “I feel like every time I make a new episode of Grey’s, there’s more stuff [I learn] because there’s a different format or a different way of filming it. But I think maybe it’s my confidence in how I want to tell this story and where I want to place the cameras. [has gotten better]. TV moves so fast, so I feel like the more I do it, the more comfortable I get with the speed you need to move through it. I am becoming more and more comfortable with the profession, which then allows me to really enjoy the process.
Grey’s Anatomy returns to ABC on Thursday, January 8 at 10 p.m. ET and airs the next day on Hulu.
