Red alert as situation becomes alarming with Nikola Jokic, starters, Bench All Hurt vs. Hawks (January 9)

The Denver Nuggets are going through one of the toughest stretches, with their entire playing group affected by a rash of injuries. Ahead of Friday’s game against the Atlanta Hawks, the Nuggets listed nine players on the injury report, which includes Nikola Jokic, every player on the starting unit and even key rotation players who contribute heavily when the entire team is healthy.

Nuggets listed JokicCam Johnson and Jonas Valanciunas are out again. Jokic is recovering from a bruised left knee and is expected to return by the All-Star Break if the rehabilitation process goes smoothly. Johnson (right knee bruise) and Valanciunas (right calf sprain) remain sidelined with no timetable for returning.

Spencer Jones, who has become a regular part of Denver’s starting lineup, is listed as questionable due to inflammation and ailment in his left ankle. He only played nine minutes in the previous game against the Celtics, in which the Nuggets recorded a fantastic 114-110 away victory.

Jamal Murray, Aaron Gordon and Christian Braun, all of whom have locked down starters while fully healthy, are listed as probable on the injury report. Murray is dealing with a sprained left ankle and illness, Gordon still hasn’t fully recovered from his right hamstring strain and Braun is dealing with a sprained left ankle. All three players were in action in the previous game against Boston.

Nuggets also listed Bruce Brown as questionable with inflammation of the right knee. He played 19 minutes and scored four points against the Celtics.
