INEOS has now reportedly lodged an offer to recruit an impressive attacking star for Manchester United who is worth over £85 million this month.
Amid all the chaos of their manager search, Man United still face the January transfer window. This was the subject of Ruben Amorim’s dismay as he looked for reinforcements and it is now up to INEOS to continue without their sacked manager, relying on whoever they appoint next.
Of course, what makes things difficult is that they may not know who their next permanent manager will be until the summer. Recent reports claim that the current plan is to appoint an interim boss – likely in the form of a Ole Gunnar Solskjaer – until the end of the season, before moving towards a more permanent option.
As for who this permanent manager could be, the name Luis Enrique emerged earlier this week amid reports he is set to leave Paris Saint-Germain at the end of his current contract in 2027.
Although the wait is certainly long for the players at Old Trafford, they could still try to convince the Spaniard to leave the French club a year early and take on the challenge of rebuilding Man United.
Meanwhile, if it’s not the PSG boss, then it could be the Crystal Palace boss. Olivier Glasner. The Austrian is set to leave the south London club when his contract expires at the end of the season, allowing United to swoop in and agree a free deal.
Like many others on the Red Devils’ shortlist, Glasner would benefit from the addition of attacking star Yan Diomande at Old Trafford. According to Taken Offside, Man United have submitted an offer to sign Diomandébut RB Leipzig are not keen to sell this month and value their star man at around €100m (£87m).
Under Amorim, the arrival of star wingers rarely made sense. In his 3-4-2-1 system, full-backs often found themselves centrally in one of two number 10 roles or at fullback with additional defensive responsibility. Groups like Diomandé would have been doomed from the start.
Now that they have shown their manager the door, Man United have the chance to welcome a manager who could take Diomande to the next level.
The 19-year-old is already becoming a player to watch in the Bundesliga and several clubs are tracking his progress, including United. And if they want to move to a four-back system, which uses wingers, then he should be among their priorities.

With 11 goals in 16 games so far this season, it’s no wonder Leipzig are so keen to keep Diomandé, who has received praise from Marcel Schäfer.
The CEO said: “He is a left winger with exceptional speed, he knows how to dribble, he is very athletic and knows how to finish. He never lets the ball go and works for the team. Despite all the excitement, we should give Yan enough time to settle into life in Leipzig and in the Bundesliga.”
