Speaking to Box Nation, Frank Warren explained his desire to match Sheeraz with Canelo Alvarezstating that he would continue the fight immediately if circumstances permitted.

“I would do it with Canelo tomorrow, if they defended him,” Warren said. “It’s a great fight and I think he would beat him.

“I don’t know if Canelo wants this fight, but he’s a fighter. If I were him, I’d think I’d find better options, but I would love for this fight to happen.”

Canelo had to withdraw from a world title fight that was offered to him. He is coming back from elbow surgery, so the focus now is on his health. The plan is to return to the ring around September, but there’s no rush for something like that. Meanwhile, the WBC and WBO have asked Sheeraz to move forward for their vacant belts.
