Kandi Burruss Admits She Looks at Todd Tucker ‘Differently’ Amid Divorce

Kandi Burruss, who rose to fame as a member of the girl group Xscape and as a songwriter for some of the industry’s biggest artists, revealed in November 2025 that she and her husband were separating after 11 years together.

In an excerpt from a recent livestream, Burrus took a moment to answer fan questions, including one about whether she could see herself maintaining a friendship with Tucker once their divorce was finalized.

Although the “Real Housewives” star explained that she sees herself becoming friends with Tucker after their legal proceedings, she’s not his biggest fan right now.

“I hope. I hope we become friends,” she said. “That would be my goal.” She continued, “But you know, when you go through a divorce, people get on your nerves and you really start to look at them differently.”

Burruss finished by sharing that she hopes she and Tucker can get through their divorce “unscathed.”

Burrus open about her decision to walk away from her marriage of 11 years shortly after BravoCon 2025. During an interview – covered by The Blast – Burruss revealed that she made the decision after careful consideration. “I am entering a new chapter regarding my work, my family and my own growth. I am grateful to everyone who has supported us over the years and I ask for privacy, grace and understanding as we navigate this transition with our family,” she said.

Her announcement came as a surprise to Bravo fans, however, given that she gave a special thank you to Tucker during her acceptance speech for the ceremony’s “Wifetime Achievement Award.”

“To Todd, thank you for surviving the blogs, the shade, the rumors, the lies, the truth, the almost fights, the actual fights, the reunions,” she said. “You deserved this award too.”

According to The explosionBurruss and Tucker discussed the details of their divorce in court, with Tucker requesting primary custody of their two minor children and that their prenuptial agreement be ignored. Burruss, on the other hand, has request that the court keeps their prenup in place and also encourages them to watch previous episodes of “RHOA,” which show Tucker signing the legal document willingly.

In an Instagram post, Burruss got emotional about the state of her marriage, sharing that she’s been showing courage for so long while dealing with a lot of stress behind the scenes. “This is what I look like when I’m going through something. I show up for my family, I show up for my friends, I show up to handle my business, [and] Showing up with a smile while emotionally broken,” she captioned the montage of photos and videos of her smiling with friends and family. “I’m the epitome of the saying, ‘watch your friend strong because you never know what they’re going through.'”

One distraction that helps Burruss take his mind off the status of his relationship is his new gig in the Broadway musical “& Juliet.” According to For Burruss, who first appeared on the Broadway stage as Mama Morton in “Chicago,” her return to New York is “f-cking perfect,” adding that focusing on music and performing brings her peace and joy. “This show is so fun that no matter what happens, it takes you out of that space,” she said.

In the musical, fueled by music from famed producer Max Martin, Burruss sings a Pink song he helped create, “F-ckin Perfect.” Burruss explained that the song, whose lyrics are “Please don’t ever feel like you’re not perfect,” was the perfect anthem for her at this time in her life.
