He is now a surefire contender for next year’s World Cup squad, and his sky-high potential is not lost on Tottenham.
According to TEAMtalk and journalist Dean Jones, Spurs took ‘low-key’ approach to Wharton signing as ENIC is considering “statement signings” this year – but that could be for the summer rather than January.
The midfield anchor, according to Spanish reports, will cost a minimum £60 million and potentially a similar fee to Eberechi Eze’s move to Arsenal last summer.
