Sheffield Wednesday to welcome Brentford at Hillsborough Stadium in the third round of the FA Cup SATURDAY. The Bees enter the weekend on a four-game winning streak against the home side and will look to extend that impressive run.
Sheffield Wednesday were once again left empty-handed in the EFL Championship as they lost 3-0 to Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road Stadium last Sunday.
Thanks for the submission!
The Owls have gone 19 consecutive games without a win in all competitions (7D 12L), a run which has seen them plummet to the bottom of the Championship table.
However, Sheffield Wednesday will be looking to top their run in last season’s FA Cup, when they were beaten on penalties by Coventry City in this round after a 1-1 stalemate in normal time.
Brentford, meanwhile, continued their quest for European football on Wednesday by securing a 3-0 victory over Sunderland in the Premier League.
With the result, Keith Andrews’ side are unbeaten in six consecutive league matches, winning four and drawing two since a 2-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on December 6.
Like Sheffield Wednesday, Brentford suffered third round elimination from the FA Cup last season, following a somewhat disappointing 1-0 home defeat to Plymouth Argyle.
Brentford face a Sheffield Wednesday side who ended a horror first half of the season, and they will rely on coming away with the desired result this weekend.
Given the gap in quality and experience between the two teams, we are backing the Bees to make it easier for the home side to do their job at Hillsborough Stadium.
Prediction: Sheffield Wednesday 0-3 Brentford
Tip 1: Result – Brentford win
Tip 2: Over 2.5 goals – Yes (There have been at least three goals scored in four of the last five meetings between the two teams)
Tip 3: More than 4.5 cards – No (there have also been less than five cards in their last 10 meetings)
