Devin Haney put in one of the most remarkable performances of 2025 to become a three-division world champion, and the undefeated American has now been called out by one of his fellow 147-pound titleholders for an intriguing unification clash.
After reigning at both lightweight and super-lightweight, Haney moved up to welterweight to face undefeated WBO champion Brian Norman Jr., who was defeated with relative ease despite many fans previously believing the contest to be a 50/50 affair.
Now, ‘The Dream’ hopes to become an undisputed multi-division champion, having already accomplished the feat as a lightweight, as he eyes a rematch against Ryan Garcia, who is fighting for the WBC crown next month, pending an official announcement. He also has his eyes on WBA champion Rolando Romero and the IBF bracelet currently held by Lewis Crocker.
Talk with Ring MagazineCrocker called for a fight with Haney to become a unified titlist.
“Absolutely, [Devin Haney is my number one target]. Haney is on the pound-for-pound list, multiple weight world champion, he’s the biggest name and it’s good that he’s interested in the fight and willing.
“At the end of the day, champions should fight champions, especially for ourselves and for the fans.”
Crocker recently announced his separation from coach Billy Nelson, despite the Scot guided Crocker to world honors last year. The Belfast-born operator has named Huzaifah Iqbal as his new main cornerman, and Iqbal has spoken with confidence ahead of a potential fight with Haney.
“This is what he wants, this is what he’s looking for, this really fits. I really like technical matchups, and any fight has to be one that Lewis is ready for. Lewis is ready to fight, honestly,
“I took these road trips with him where we would talk [of potential opponents] and he’s ready for anything, but I’d love it [Devin Haney fight] and I know he would love it.
Crocker had also been linked with a voluntary defense of his titles and a rematch against Wolverhampton’s Conah Walker, whom he controversially beat in 2024, but the IBF yesterday declined the request.
Instead, the Ulsterman was ordered to defend his belt against former Australian welterweight world champion and current IBF mandatory challenger Liam Paro.
