New Manchester United striker Bryan Mbeumo is hoping to propel Cameroon to glory at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
The 26-year-old has the most Premier League goals this season of any player in the tournament, with five of his six coming in the top flight for United in Mbeumo’s last nine league appearances.
Cameroon are five-time CAN champions but will not participate in the 2026 World Cup after being eliminated by DR Congo during qualifying in November.
Here’s what you need to know about Bryan Mbeumo’s schedule and record in the final, as well as his possible return date for his club.
Cameroon’s campaign began with a victory against Gabon in Agadir on December 24.
They drew with holders Ivory Coast in Marrakech four days later and completed the initial phase by beating Mozambique in Agadir on 31 December.
Wednesday December 24
Cameroon 1-0 Gabon, Agadir
Sunday December 28
Cameroon 1-1 Ivory Coast, Marrakech
Wednesday December 31
Cameroon 2-1 Mozambique, Agadir
In the UK, live CAN 2025 coverage is on Channel 4. In the United States, beIN Sports is the tournament broadcaster.
Online live streaming is available on a wide range of devices via Channel 4 website and the beIN Sports app and app.
Mbeumo could return from the tournament at the earliest after Cameroon’s quarter-final on Friday January 9.
A potential semi-final exit would take place on January 14, with their last match on January 17 if they are eliminated in the semi-finals or January 18 if they reach the final.
The next United game that Mbeumo could reasonably be available for is their home game against Manchester City in the league on January 17 (12:30 GMT / 07:30 ET / 04:30 PT), but he would miss that match if Cameroon reach the semi-finals.
United’s next match is against Premier League leaders Arsenal on January 25 (4:30 p.m. GMT / 11:30 a.m. ET / 8:30 a.m. PT).
They will then host Fulham on February 1 (2:00 p.m. GMT / 9:00 a.m. ET / 6:00 a.m. PT).
Mbeumo is aiming to win the title for the first time, having made his debut at the AFCON finals with an assist against Gabon in Cameroon’s opener this time around.
Cameroon’s most recent triumph was in 2017.
