While the protests Iran Nearly two weeks later, Canada condemns the intensification of repression by the Iranian authorities.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister Marc Carney condemned the Iranian regime for its actions in the face of widespread protests.
“Reports of violence, arbitrary arrests and intimidation tactics by the Iranian regime against its own people are deeply concerning,” the message read.
“Canada strongly condemns the killing of protesters and urges Iran to allow freedom of expression and peaceful assembly without fear of reprisals,” the statement added.

The federal government also updated its travel advice, urging Canadians to avoid all travel to Iran due to ongoing nationwide protests, heightened regional tensions, the risk of arbitrary detention and unpredictable enforcement of local laws.
Canadians currently in Iran are advised to leave the country if it is safe to do so.
“Many airlines have suspended flights to and from Iran at this time, but there are land crossing options,” the message read. “Our ability to provide consular services in Iran is extremely limited. »
The Iranian government has acknowledged the ongoing protests, even as security forces step up efforts to quell them.
The country remains largely cut off from the rest of the world, with restricted internet access and phone lines apparently down, making it difficult to gauge the extent of the unrest.
But the death toll from the protests rose to at least 72 people killed, and more than 2,300 others arrested, according to the American news agency Human Rights Activists News Agency.
Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has announced an upcoming crackdown, despite condemnations and warnings from other countries.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio weighed in on X, writing that the United States “stands with the courageous people of Iran.”
