Liverpool defender Conor Bradley will miss the rest of the season with a serious knee injury suffered during Thursday’s goalless draw at Arsenal.
Bradley will undergo surgery in the coming days to repair bone and ligament damage, but it is not an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.
Bradley will miss the World Cup play-offs between Northern Ireland and Italy in March.
The confirmation of Bradley’s injury comes after Arsenal striker Gabriel Martinelli pushed the defender as he lay injured on the ground.
Martinelli was booked by referee Anthony Taylor after the stoppage-time flashpoint with the winger. widely criticized for his behaviorwhich angered the Liverpool players.
But the Brazilian, who apologized for his actions on social media after the match, will avoid further sanctions of the Football Association, the matter being considered to be dealt with as it was seen at the time by Taylor.
