Spurs submit big bid to sign ‘amazing’ winger

Thomas Franck is a man under pressure Tottenham Hotspur. Spurs have won just one of their last seven games and are now out of the FA Cup.

Let’s be honest, it looks like another trophyless season for the Lilywhites. Their chances of winning the Champions League are almost non-existent.

Combine that spell with their miserable injury record this term and it only makes things worse. Frank has not signed Dominic Solanke for virtually the entire campaign while James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski remain long-term absentees.

Summer signing Mohammed Jerusalem has now joined them on the treatment table and as Spurs enter the January window, they will need to find a replacement for the stricken Ghanaian.

Spurs submit bid to sign Kudus replacement

Kudus was sent off during the first half of Spurs’ clash with Sunderland and sadly that’s the last time we’ll see him for a few months.

Suffering from a quad injury, Frank confirmed we won’t see the former West Ham United player again until after the March international break. Since the break falls right at the end of the month, he won’t be back in action until April.

Considering the north Londoners had only just sold Brennan Johnson, the timing couldn’t really be worse.

That said, the Spurs recruiting team took action and according to reports in Spainhave made the decision to sign a replacement.

Indeed, a source suggests that with Spurs looking for an “immediate improvement in quality”, they have identified Real Madrid winger Brahim Diaz as a “prime target”.

Spurs have such interest in the player that they have already submitted a bid worth €60m (£52m) to take him away from the Spanish capital.

The Lilywhites are believed to be convinced that offering him a “prominent role” in the team will entice him to leave the Bernabeu for north London.

Why Diaz would be an ideal replacement for Kudus

It’s been a long time since Diaz was on Manchester City’s books. Of Spanish origin but now a Moroccan international, the 26-year-old has played 15 times for the Citizens, scoring twice.

He left Manchester behind and now finds himself playing for the biggest club in the country, Real Madrid. You’re not a bad player if you earn regular playing time for Xabi Alonso’s charges.

Real Madrid's Brahim Diaz, Raul Asencio and Rodrygo celebrate their second goal

Diaz may have only scored one goal in 18 matches this season, but that doesn’t paint the full picture of his qualities. After all, he has only started three times in La Liga during the 2025/26 season.

Last season, the winger scored six times and provided eight assists. Sure, those aren’t eye-popping numbers, but they’re a fairer reflection of what he can offer. Consider that he has actually only started 23 times in all competitions and that set of stats is certainly more impressive.

So why is he the ideal replacement for the injured Kudus? Well, like the Ghanaian star, he is not only a winger but also an attacking midfielder. On his right foot he is slightly different from Kudus, but they are both equally creative and capable of finding the net.

A closer look at their figures for 2024/25 helps support this claim.

Obviously, Kudus is a trickier ball dribbler and much more likely to take on an opponent. Still, Diaz looks more like the complete package.

From limited minutes, he actually scored more goals per 90 minutes than Kudus last season and was a better chance creator, providing his teammates with more key passes and progressive passes.

Hailed as an ‘astonishing’ talent by Italian football expert Mina Rzouki during a loan to Milan, she also stated that Diaz “breaks lines incredibly well and works in tight spaces.” Sounds rather like Kudus, doesn’t it?

Mohammed Kudus in action for Tottenham

What Spurs need right now is someone who can create scoring opportunities. Maddison, Kulusevski and Kudus are all out, so Diaz ticks a lot of boxes for Frank and Co.

It would certainly be a shrewd signing from the recruitment bosses at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
