Taylor Sheridanthe hit series Landman was renewed for season 3 — but what stars are and are not back after this shocking shooting?
Inspired by the “Boomtown” podcast series, Landman focuses on the West Texas oil industry with a particular emphasis on crisis manager Tommy Norris and his family. The Paramount+ show, premiering in 2024, featured Billy Bob Thornton as a corporate repairman working for an oil titan (Jon Hamm) while keeping its promise of twists and turns.
The season finale killed off Hamm’s Monty while Tommy was made president of M-Tex before being kidnapped – and severely beaten – by a drug cartel leader. Tommy is eventually released with the promise that he will work with the cartel.
Season 2 upped the ante by shaking up the story with Demi Moore’Cami added more to the mix. Elsewhere in the show, Ali Larter’it’s Angela, Jacob LoflandIt’s Cooper, Michelle RandolphAinsley and others are at the center of their own drama.
Before the arrival of the second season until the end, Landman had already been renewed for a third tranche. Season 2 broke viewership records for Paramount+ by achieving more than 9.2 million streaming views for its first episode in the first two days of service. Views have increased since the first season premiered, making it the most-watched premiere of any Paramount+ original series.
Keep scrolling to see which one Landman cast confirmed they will return for season 3 – and who hasn’t yet:

Billy Bob Thornton as Tommy Norris.
Lauren “Loî Smith/Paramount+Although Tommy was fired by Cami, Thornton signed on for four or five seasons of Landman, telling The Hollywood Reporter in November 2025, he would stay on the hit series “as long as I can” or “until the story is over”.

Jon Hamm, Monte Miller
James Minchin/ParamountAfter playing a significant role in season 1, Hamm’s character was killed off.

Creator Christian Wallace weighed in on how It’s Cami’s time to shinetelling Variety in January 2025, “There’s still a lot of story left to tell with Cami. Taylor has big plans, that’s all I’m going to say.”
Wallace explained in a separate interview with TV Insider.
“I think Demi’s character in that first season was sort of playing second fiddle to Monty, at least in his role as the president of M-Tex Oil,” Wallace explained. “He’s the one who calls the shots and has to make these big decisions, and so he’s really the one who’s thrown into the fire and honestly trying to protect his family from the stress that he’s under, which ultimately plays a role in his demise. And Cami is aware of that but isn’t involved in the day-to-day activities of M-Tex. And so his passing is sort of an incredible opportunity for Cami to play a bigger role in this world.”

It remains to be seen whether Garcia’s character will remain as head of the drug cartel until season 3.

Landman wouldn’t be what it is without Angela calling Tommy and visiting the senior center with her daughter.

Michelle Randolph as Ainsley Norris.
Ryan Green/Paramount+Speaking of Ainsley, the show still has a long way to go in its on-screen journey.

Jacob Lofland as Cooper Norris.
Emerson Miller/Paramount+Cooper’s personal life is thriving, but it’s unclear how much trouble his professional life is until the third season.

Ariana’s relationship with Cooper is a central element of the series. Moving forward, Landman will continue to follow their story.

All of We We’re on the edge of our seats waiting for the latest developments in Rebecca’s life.

What would Tommy’s life be like without Dale?

The same goes for Nathan aka Neil and his presence in the Norris house.

Elliott signed a two-year contract Landman contract before Paramount+ has officially renewed the series for a third season.
“I can’t wait to see what happens in Season 3,” Elliott told Extra TV in November 2025. “I mean, we’re talking about Season 2, but that’s our story at this point. We’re all kind of looking toward April and May when we start shooting Season 3.”
