Leeds United bounced back from their demoralizing 4-3 defeat at Newcastle United with a confidence-boosting FA Cup victory.
Back on the road in Derby CountyDaniel WakeThe Whites beat John Eustace’s Rams in a 3-1 victory, with their attention now turning to the Premier Leagueas Fulham then arrive at Elland Road.
Farke will be hoping to return to winning ways in the bread and butter of the league to consolidate victory against the Championship hosts, with January also providing him with the opportunity to assess his squad, in case any last-minute deals are required in the hectic transfer window.
Farke would have been largely pleased with the performance on display at Pride Park, as Wilfried Gnonto – who has not started games in recent times in the Premier League – scored the crucial equalizer in Derbyshire.
Joel Piroe had a more cursed day in front of goal as he missed a penalty, with Leeds possibly turning to the services of Striker targets Artem Dovbyk to knock the former Swansea City striker down the first-team rankings.
Surprisingly, however, he is not the only AS Roma-linked striker that Leeds appear to be pursuing, with Revealing TEAMtalk that the new elite players held talks with the center forward at the Stadio Olimpico Tammy Abraham on a possible change in January.
Now plying his trade in the Turkish Super Lig on loan with Beşiktaş, it has been reported that Abraham’s loan deal could soon come to an end at the Tüpraş Stadium, with Aston Villa, Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest, Sunderland and – of course – Leeds talking about the possibility of acquiring the Englishman mid-season.
Having scored 12 goals in 24 games for the Black Eagles, it is stated that Abraham would welcome a return to England so that he can boldly get back into the England race under Thomas Tuchel.
It will be a tough race to win, but Leeds will support themselves in the ongoing fight, as they potentially gain a striker very much built in the same mold as the powerful, yet deadly. Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Coincidentally, there have been conversations at Elland Road this season about Calvert-Lewin potentially returning to the Three Lions’ plans, following his clinical form while donning the whites of Leeds.
Much like Abraham, who has had many twists and turns during a long career that saw him start out as a promising starlet at Chelsea, the Sheffield-born striker went through hardships during his own bumpy playing days, which forced him to leave Everton for a chance at redemption in West Yorkshire.
It’s safe to say it’s a move that has done wonders for the 28-year-old’s career, with nine goals next to his name in just 20 appearances. In contrast, Calvert-Lewin managed to score just a measly three goals all last season as he stared the Toffees’ exit in the face.
Abraham will be hoping for a similar resurrection in the Premier League if he returns, having already scored 26 goals in England’s top flight on the books of Swansea and Chelsea.

Only six disappointing efforts would fall to him in his final season with the Blues, but – as the table above makes clear – he has proven himself to be a potent threat outside the Premier League, with a Calvert-Lewin redemption arc possibly awaiting him at Elland Road.
Moreover, in addition to finding the best of themselves during the latter stages of their journey, the two attackers in question are also physical presences. They are both tall and the type of attacker who simply loves to struggle with a defender, before seizing an opportunity. Indeed, Frank Lampard once noted that Abraham was a “an incredible handful” for the defenders when their paths crossed at Stamford Bridge.
Likewise, Calvert-Lewin has also been referred to as “robust” presence that constitutes the “complete package” by BBC 5 Live pundit Glenn Murray putting away the goals for fun in West Yorkshire.
With a Priced at £11 million touted for Abraham’s services, Leeds may well feel they have another Calvert-Lewin style affair in the works, with the 6ft 4in striker also previously hailed as a “outstanding” opportunity finisher, by journalist Henry Winter, a bit like the number nine aging like a fine wine under Farke.
