Moses Itauma vs. Jermaine Franklin postponed due to injury with new date announced

Moses Itauma was due to face Jermaine Franklin next Saturday, but a last-minute postponement saw the show pushed back to a later date.

Itauma is considered by many to be the future of the heavyweight division, continuing his two-round winning streak despite the level of his opposition increasing over the past two years.

Today, the 21-year-old is on the verge of winning the world title, but he has agreed to face Franklin in hopes of accumulating more rounds and experience and potentially doing what Dillian Whyte and Anthony Joshua couldn’t by eliminating Franklin.

Itauma and Franklin were ready to dominate a A “Magnificent 7” program that features a multitude of well-matched, high-stakes competitions for Itauma’s second consecutive headlining outing.

However, Promotions on the Royal Bays have now revealed that Itauma suffered an injury during camp and therefore the entire event was pushed back to Saturday March 28.

“Moses Itauma was injured in camp for his fight with Jermaine Franklin on January 24.

“For this reason, the entire Magnificent 7 show has been postponed and moved to the new date of March 28 at Co-op Live in Manchester.”

It remains to be seen if the undercard will remain the same or if some fights will move to alternate shows in the coming weeks.
