Conor Benn believes he is within “contacting distance” of the WBC welterweight title and is ready to fight the winner of Mario Barrios against Ryan Garcia.
Benn has been confirmed as the mandatory challenger for the WBC belt, currently held by Barrios, who will first defend his title against Garcia in Las Vegas.
Following his victory over Eubank Jr at middleweight in November, Benn moved up in weight to achieve his long-term ambition of holding a world title.
“Listen, I said I’d be WBC champion, it’s always been a dream, so to be within reach and become mandatory for the WBC world title, I’ll be there ringside and I want the winner,” Benn said. Aerial sports.
“It will definitely be Garcia. Garcia versus Benn – I like the sound of that.”

Fellow Briton Dalton Smith was crowned the new WBC welterweight champion after a spectacular fifth-round stoppage of Subriel Matias in Brooklyn last weekend.
Benn would relish the opportunity to fight for a world title on American soil, but also believes he would draw a huge crowd to a British venue if he had home-field advantage.
“There’s something brilliant about what Dalton Smith has done, so I’d love to do it in Las Vegas but I feel like I’m going to bring it here to the UK for the fans.
“Another fight at the stadium sounds good, doesn’t it?”

Tony Sims, Conor Benn’s manager, told Sky Sports:
“We hope it will be Ryan Garcia next. Obviously the fight with Barrios is on February 21 and Conor is mandatory.
“Provided Garcia is successful, Conor would look to fight him.”
