Before its premiere, the show was set to air on Starz, but Netflix ultimately gained exclusive licensing rights in the United States for a year after Lionsgate Television acquired the rights to The Hunting Wives from Starz. Season 2 of The Hunting Wives “will premiere exclusively as a Netflix-branded series in nearly every country where Netflix is available, with the original cast set to reprise their roles,” according to a press release.

Fans have been waiting for news of a second season since the finale, premiering in July 2025, made major changes from Cobb’s book. Those who have read the novel know that Jill (Katie Lowes) killed that of his son Brad (George Ferrier) girlfriend after Abby became pregnant and refused to have an abortion. Jill then killed Margo (named Margot in the book) because she also knew about her friend’s affair with her teenage son.

The eight-part series, however, he got off to a wide start from the original plot by having Margo as the one who got pregnant with Brad’s baby. Margo had an abortion and eventually killed Abby, which Sophie found out in the season 1 finale. Sophie was about to abandon Margo before Margo’s brother got involved and Sophie ended up killing Kyle (Aaron Milligan).

Creator Rebecca Cutter previously teased plans for a second season while speaking to Variety in July 2025, saying there was “a small jump in time – not a year, but a time”. She also hinted that it would be “smart” to have a new murder mystery in the next season, adding: “I don’t know who the whodunnit is yet or who’s finished! »

Author Cobb also supported a continuation. “I feel like there are so many more stories to tell,” Cobb told CBS 19 in July. “It ends on a cliffhanger, and also, the cast and crew were so wonderful. We all just want to get back together and work together again.”

The Hunting Wives is currently streaming on Netflix.
