The NFL has finally delivered its verdict on the controversy surrounding Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf. During Sunday’s win over the Detroit Lions, he got into a physical altercation with a fan on the sideline.
According to reports, the fan allegedly used racist slurs and made derogatory comments about his mother, which spurred Metcalf into action. However, the fan denied the allegations, saying Metcalf’s actions were motivated by him using his full name.
Thanks for the submission!
The league decided to suspend him for two games, meaning he won’t be available for the rest of the regular season. Not only that, but according to CBS Sports, this decision also voids $45 million in guaranteed money for DK Metcalf.

However, former Steeers tackle Breiden Fehoko has put forward a theory that it was all orchestrated by the franchise.

“The fan wasn’t there by chance. DK is starting to underperform and now an incident with a fan voids part of his guarantees? $40 million?!” Fehoko tweeted.
DK Metcalf joined the Steelers in March on a five-year contract worth $150 million. However, after an optimistic start to the year, its performance has been disappointing in recent weeks.
In the last 10 games, Metcalf has just scored three touchdowns for the Steelers. Against the Lions in Week 16, he had 42 receiving yards on four receptions while being targeted nine times. However, according to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, the receiver will appeal his two-game suspension to the league.
On Monday’s episode of “It Is What It Is,” retired three-time Super Bowl champion Michael Irvin showed up to talk about what happened between DK Metcalf and the fan.
The ex-Cowboys star condemned the situation while criticizing the WR for engaging in a physical altercation.
“Hey, if they don’t have it all figured out
“It’s crazy, there’s a lot of noise that comes from there when you’re in a football game,” Irvin said (timestamp-45:00). “I don’t know what makes you walk to get a one-or-one or end up in this kind of situation.
“You just taught me some stuff about DK, but I tell you what, the only thing he can’t do is what he did there. You imagine you’re in this football, people are so excited about football it could turn into one hell of a scene. So just the fact that you went there, I don’t care what he helps, you’re wrong.”
THE Steelers will then face the Browns on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
