The Florida Gaming Control Commission (FGCC) assisted U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (HSI) and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) with “Operation Funny Money,” which helped coordinate enforcement actions targeting suspected illegal gaming throughout Florida.
The operation spanned three locations in the northeastern part of the state, with investigators executing a search warrant in Jacksonville and two others in Orange Park.
It was during the operation that the FGCC staff seized suspected illegal slot machines and associated components, consisting of 230 slot machines and 23 fishing tables, as well as other digital media and associated equipment.

Speaking on the operation, Florida Gaming Control Commission Executive Director Alana Zimmer said in a statement. press release: “The Florida Gaming Control Commission welcomes the opportunity to partner with our federal and local partners to curb illegal gaming in our state.
“We will take the vital and necessary steps to shut down illegal casinos popping up across Florida. Our agents are constantly working to permanently close the doors to illegal gaming establishments, and we appreciate working with our federal partners.”
THE gtraveling machines that were seized were transported to an FGCC warehouse for evidentiary purposes. All proceeds from the recovered machines were collected and documented by HSI evidence technicians as part of the ongoing federal investigation.
In Florida, the law allows slot machines to be offered only in legal gaming establishments. According to state gambling regulations, there are only eight licensed pari-mutuel establishments in Miami-Dade and Broward counties and some establishments operated by the Seminole Tribe of Florida.
In announcing the outcome of the search warrants, the Florida Gaming Control Commission reiterated that it is illegal to offer slot games or any unauthorized gaming in any unlicensed establishment in Florida.
