Cameron Green would be one of the most talked about players in the upcoming Indian Premier League auction in 2026, even without a decision that shocked the world. What Green did was register as a hitter for the upcoming auction. Many fans were surprised, shocked and some even left dismayed.

During an interview with ESPNcricinfo, Cameron Green was quick to explain that he will be ready to bowl at the start of the season, saying: “I will be ready to bowl. Green is currently with the Australian national team in Adelaide and reporters found him in good spirits, ready to answer any questions about India’s championship season which will go ahead as planned in the spring. Green said he felt sorry for throwing his manager under the bus, but said him being listed as the only hitter was because his manager had a stink during the reporting process. Still, Green didn’t hesitate to admit that now that everything has been sorted out, he finds the situation and the attention it received in the press quite funny.
When it comes to the 2026 Indian Premier League, Green said he is closely monitoring the auctions as he is more than interested to know which team will pick him up and who his teammates will be in the upcoming season. Considering he’s not the only Australian player participating in the auction, Green will be watching the event with a few other teammates, stating that it’s always fun to go through the draft process year after year and learn more about your future for the next season.
Cameron Green, who has previously played for Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL, is expected to be the most expensive player in the upcoming auction. Its price is expected to be higher than the current record which belongs to Rishabh Pant who set it last season at INR 27 crore. The favorites to sign him are Kolkata Knight Riders, who have the largest remaining budget among all the teams participating in the IPL 2026 season. At the moment, his price is INR 2 crorer, and given that he entered the auction as a hitter, he will be one of the first six players to be selected and we have no doubt about it.
If he is picked up by KKR, he will join the ranks of Nitish Rana and Sunil Narine, giving them a strong enough team to open the season. Moreover, if the rumors are true that Kolkata Knight Riders are also aiming to sign David Miller from South Africa, KKR will have a pretty good squad full of seasoned internationals.
