Burkina Faso coach Brama Traoré is confident in the rapid qualification of his team for the 2025 African Cup of Nations will give them an advantage when they open their campaign against Equatorial Guinea tomorrow.
Traoré’s men were the first team to secure their place in Morocco and approach their first Group E match with confidence.
He told the tournament’s official website: “We prepared very well. We were the first team to qualify for this Africa Cup of Nations, and then we continued to play the remaining matches with a lot of desire and a lot of professionalism.
“It allowed us to arrive here in good condition, and we think the environment is favorable for us to have a very good CAN.”
Algeria and Sudan make up the pool teams.
Traore added: “We have some very good teams in our group. Algeria are a top team, Equatorial Guinea are competitive and Sudan have shown their qualities – we have already seen them beat Ghana.
“Everything is possible. We will respect each team because we know that they have all prepared well. For our part, we will approach each match with a lot of desire and determination.”
Equatorial Guinea will be underdogs after winning just two of their last nine matches.
Burkina Faso will be managed by former Sunderland Chelsea and Aston Villa winger Bertrand Traore.
