Wendy Osefo and her husband, Eddie Osefoare fighting back against prosecutors as their legal case becomes more serious.

On November 20, the couple issued a joint statement through their lawyers, denouncing what they called “false narratives” and accusing the state of inappropriate conduct. “Police failed to properly investigate the initial burglary despite clear indications of a break-in, demonstrating a clear bias against the burglary. Osefo family,” their legal team wrote, adding that investigators remained silent for “more than 18 months despite full cooperation.” They insisted the couple “never used a pseudonym on any financial application,” saying the names referenced in court documents were only used for “package delivery” to protect their privacy. The statement concluded: “Due process is paramount…misleading the public with a false narrative has only deepened the harm.” »

Prosecutors have painted a very different picture in their own cases. They allege Wendy And Eddie controlled “approximately 40 credit and/or debit cards,” some linked to business accounts, and claim the two men used the pseudonyms “Pam Olivier” And “Eddie Hennessy” specifically “to conceal their identity.”

Eddie’s lawyer, Joseph Murthastrongly pushed back on the state’s request for additional financial documents, calling the subpoenas “overly broad” and questioning why prosecutors are “still looking for something they haven’t figured out after 18 months of investigation.”

Joseph also claimed that police never contacted the couple “from the time of the break-in until they were criminally charged.” A judge is expected to address the subpoena dispute at a Dec. 2 hearing.

In the meantime, investigators have already obtained a significant amount of digital and financial information. Google was the subject of a search and seizure warrant for several Gmail accounts linked to the couple – including one not linked to either of their names. Meta was ordered to release data from Wendy’s Instagram accounts, @thedrwendyshow And @wendyosefoafter authorities noticed she posted a photo wearing a diamond birthday bracelet that she had listed as stolen. Additional mandates targeted Wendy’s Apple ID, A TextNow pidentification number and home security records of Ring and ADT.

Prosecutors also extracted financial data from Allied Bank, American Express, Capital One, and luxury retailers such as Van Cleef, Saks, Louis Vuitton, And Ascot Diamonds.

Investigation stems from burglary Wendy And Eddie reported to their Finksburg, Maryland, home on April 7, 2024. The couple claimed they returned from a family trip to Jamaica to find their room ransacked and nearly $450,000 worth of jewelry and designer handbags missing. But detectives pointed out several inconsistencies early on. According to court documents, the house ADT The system detected no movement inside during their trip, and the Ring cameras — which the couple monitored remotely — did not capture any suspicious activity.
