Mighty Ducks actor wants to help homeless Tylor Chase from Ned’s Declassified


Mighty Ducks actor Shaun Weiss hope to help the former Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide star Tyler Chase.

“I’ve been getting a lot of messages about Tylor Chase. I’ve reached out to some of my friends and we have a bed for him… and we have a place to go… thanks to my buddy Mike Jordan from Eleven 11 Recovery,” Weiss, 47, said in a video posted via Instagram Monday, December 22. “All we have to do is find him. I’m not in Los Angeles or I’d go find him myself.”

After receiving a tip that Chase, 36, might be unhoused in Riverside, Calif., Weiss asked if anyone could have a one-on-one with the former child star: “Please send me a message so we can get him some help in time for the holidays.”

Although the Riverside Police Department does not know how long Chase has been homeless, they confirmed to Us every week on Tuesday, Dec. 23, that “officers assigned to our Public Safety Engagement Team are in regular contact with him, at least once a week, and consistently offer a range of resources, including assistance with temporary housing options. Throughout these interactions, he has been cordial and cooperative with our officers.”

Recently, a heartbreaking video surfaced on social media of Chase homeless in an undisclosed location.

The images caught the attention of many fans, including others Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide actor Devon Werkheiser.

“Tylor was a sensitive, gentle and kind child. It’s heartbreaking to see him like this,” Werkheiser, 34, said. TMZ in an interview published Monday. “I haven’t seen Tylor in almost 20 years, since the show ended. Anyone who has dealt with serious addiction and mental health issues knows that it’s an incredibly difficult situation if they don’t want help. It’s a daily battle to make things right. It takes a lot of support, patience and time.”

Chase played the role of middle school student Martin Qwerly in Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide throughout the Nickelodeon show’s three seasons between 2004 and 2007.

His other acting credits include an appearance in Everyone hates Chris and a role in the 2007 independent film Good time Max with James Franco.

“My only hope is that from this exposure, someone with real understanding and real resources can step in, put Tylor on treatment and help him get back on track,” Werkheiser explained. “We all want a happy ending.”

“I worked with Tylor on Ned’s decades ago,” she wrote via Instagram Monday. “He was a bright child and it’s heartbreaking to see him in this state. Thank you @shaunweiss and his team for offering help to Tylor…I will keep people updated on his search. It may be difficult to convince him to get help, but we can only hope.”

As fans wait for good news, the owner of Shipwreck Barbershop Jacob Harris – who is based in the Riverside area – said he saw Chase and gave him a few reasons.

“I found him. I sat with him for an hour while his dad and several of his teammates called him on my phone,” Harris claimed via Instagram Monday. “They explained their love for him and how much they wanted/needed him to agree to help. He is now in contact with all the right people to get him the help he needs. He has a hotel room tonight to give him time to make the decision for himself.”
