It was a routine victory for the 2004 champions.
Elias Achouri scored twice Tunisia secured a 3-1 victory over Uganda in their opening match African Cup of Nations meeting in Rabat.
Despite qualifying for the 2026 World Cup without losing a match or conceding a goal, Tunisia is not among the main contenders for the title.
But the 2004 champions set a milestone amid a deluge in their opening Group C match, with Achouri the star of the show.
Ellyes Skhiri put Tunisia ahead in the 10th minute, before Achouri’s goals either side of half-time secured a comfortable victory before Denis Omedi made the scoreline more respectable for Uganda.
The warning signs were there early for Uganda, Hazem Mastouri turning wide from close range after excellent work down the left from Hannibal Mejbri.
Mejbri’s performance was vital in allowing Tunisia to take the lead, his ball at the far post being pushed away by Skhiri and they continued to dominate thereafter.
Tunisia had to wait another 30 minutes to double their advantage, but when they made it 2-0 they did so in style, Achouri responding to Ali Abdi’s pullback with a superb side-footed volley.
The rain eased in the second half but there was no letting up for Tunisia, who secured the points in the 64th minute when Achouri converted on the rebound after Abdi had been denied by Salim Magoola.
Substitute Omedi scored late for Uganda with a deflected effort to give the Cranes something to cheer about, although it was little more than a consolation.
Tunisia moves to at the top of group Cand will next face Nigeria on December 27 in a match that will likely decide the group.
