A Brit who funneled money he had stolen to play was sentenced to seven years in prison, after defrauding 10 people out of more than £1 million ($1.4 million).
Morgan Reeve, 26, of Wodehouse Road, Hunstanton, was sentenced on Friday (December 19) at Norwich Crown Court after being found guilty of 19 counts of fraud by false representation following a trial.

The court heard Reeve’s scheme began in 2018 and lasted around three years. During this period, he convinced people to hand over their money by telling them he would invest it for them. In reality, none of the victims ever got the promised results and their money was never refunded.
Reeve presented himself as a wealthy and successful trader, claiming he could make big profits from foreign exchange trading using an online platform called BD Swiss. Prosecutors said the image was based on lies. He repeatedly exaggerated or completely overstated the profits he claimed to have earned for himself and his victims, using false assurances to keep them on his side.

The court heard he kept in touch with victims via several messaging apps, often ensuring there was no risk of losing money. When people started asking for cash back, he blocked them with excuses and new promises instead of returning the funds.
The fraud was eventually revealed when a victim contacted the police. After that, others came forward, each describing similar stories and financial losses linked to Reeve.
Handing down a seven-year prison sentence, the judge highlighted the scale of the fraud, its duration and the serious consequences it had on the lives of the victims.
Investigating officer DC Aaron Jones said in a press release that Reeve had “continuously manipulated multiple victims over a prolonged period of time” and confirmed that the money obtained had been used to finance a lavish lifestyle and gambling. He added that the offenses had had a “devastating effect” on the victims and expressed the hope that the sentence would provide reassurance that Reeve would not be able to commit further fraud in the foreseeable future.
