Alec Baldwin reveals health problems caused by fallout from ‘rust’ shooting


Alex Baldwin spoke about her physical, mental and lifestyle struggles following the fatal shooting while filming 2024 Rust.

During the Friday, December 19 episode of the show “Silly” Podcast, Baldwin, 67, opened up about the 2021 on-set event that killed the cinematographer. Halyna Hutchins“broke every nerve in my body, spiritually, financially, at work and in my career.”

Souza and Hutchins were both rushed to the hospital after being injured and Hutchins was pronounced dead at the University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque. Baldwin spoke publicly about the incident on October 22, 2021, sharing a statement via “I am fully cooperating with the police investigation to understand how this tragedy happened and am in contact with her husband, offering support to him and his family. My heart is broken for her husband, their son and everyone who knew and loved Halyna.”

The film’s production company, Rust Movie Productions LLC, also announced in a statement: “The entire cast and crew were absolutely devastated by today’s tragedy, and we send our deepest condolences to Halyna’s family and loved ones. We have halted production on the film indefinitely and are cooperating fully with the Santa Fe Police Department’s investigation. We will provide counseling services to everyone related to the film during as we work to address this horrific event.”

In January 2023, Baldwin was charged with two counts of manslaughter. He went to trial and pleaded not guilty the following month, maintaining his innocence throughout.

All criminal charges against him were dropped in April 2023. However, he was charged again with manslaughter in July 2024. First Judicial District Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer dismissed the second indictment at the end of the month.
