Pro-Russian hacker group claims responsibility for DDoS attack against French post office


A group of pro-Russian hackers was revealed to be the author of a DDoS attack against the French national post office La Poste which took place on December 22, according to . The distributed denial of service attack took La Poste’s central IT systems offline and caused significant disruption to parcel deliveries just days before Christmas.

indicated that the cyberattack against La Poste was still not completely resolved as of Wednesday morning. While ordinary letters were not affected, postal workers were unable to track parcels and online payments via La Banque Postale, the service’s banking division, were also disrupted.

The group, known as Noname057, has taken responsibility for or been blamed for cyberattacks across the world. Although attacks have occurred in more than a dozen countries, the group has primarily targeted Ukraine as well as nations.

Europol, the EU’s law enforcement agency, has launched a against the group this summer. The US Department of Justice has also been involved in the hacker group.
