The Customs Authorities of Sri Lanka arrested a woman on Friday and seized the largest cocaine transport ever detected in the country’s main international airport, said an official.
The 38 -year -old Thai woman without a nameless name was carrying almost 10 kilograms (22 pounds) of cocaine stuffed in three toys in the plush, said additional Customs Director Seevali Arukgoda.
“It is the greatest attempt at smuggling cocaine that stopped by Sri Lanka’s customs at the airport,” said Arukgoda in a statement.

The entry follows three other journeys this month totaling almost 60 kilograms of synthetic cannabis.
Three foreign nationals – from Great Britain, India and Thailand – were arrested in separate cases.
The Briton, identified as Charlotte May Lee21 years old, a former London cabin crew member, was produced before a magistrate on Friday and placed in Allaida until June 13, judicial leaders announced.
She was arrested on May 12 when the officials discovered that her two suitcases were filled with 46 kilograms of Kush, a synthetic medication.
Lee said to the BBC She had traveled from Bangkok to the capital of Sri Lanka Colombo to renew her Thai visa. She described her living conditions in a Negombo prison, a city just north of the capital, saying that she was spending most of her day inside, although she can go out for fresh air.
“I never went to prison and I never went to Sri Lanka,” She said to the BBC. “This warmth and just sitting on a concrete floor all the time.”
The four suspects, including the Thai woman arrested on Friday, could face life prison if they were guilty.
Sri Lankan authorities have already seized large quantities of heroine off the coast of the country, suggesting that the island is used as a transit center for narcotics intended for other places.
In October, a Sri Lankan court sentenced 10 Iranians to a perpetuity imprisonment after pleading guilty of the smuggling of more than 111 kilograms of heroin. In 2023, nine Iranians suffered perpetuity in a separate drug smuggling case.
The largest narcotics crisis in Sri Lanka took place in December 2016, when customs found 800 kilograms (1,760 pounds) of cocaine in a wooden shipping container addressed to a neighboring India company.
