Several people are feared killed or injured in Nigeria after a suspected suicide bomber carried out an attack on a mosque in Borno state.

Eyewitnesses said the explosion occurred during evening prayers. One report suggests seven people were killed, but there has been no official confirmation of casualties.

Unverified footage posted on social media appears to show the aftermath of the explosion, with people standing in a market area with dust particles in the air.

No group has admitted carrying out the blast in Maiduguri, the state capital, but militants have previously targeted mosques and crowded venues in the area with suicide attacks and improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
