Tilak Varma climbs to 3rd place in ICC T20I rankings


India versatile hitter Tilak Varma has climbed to the third position in the updated ICC Men’s T20I batting rankings. He gained a place following a brilliant performance in the recently concluded T20I series against South Africa.

India won the series 3-1 in Ahmedabad. This series victory led to significant movements in the men’s T20I player rankings.

Tilak goes 3rd

In Ahmedabad, India scored 231 runs in the first innings. Tilak Varma led the batting with 73 off 42 balls, which helped him overtake Sri Lanka’s Pathum Nissanka to third place with 805 ranking points.

Tilak finished the series as the highest run-scorer, scoring 187 runs in four innings at a strike rate of 131.69, including two half-centuries.

Dewald Brevis climbed 5 places to reach 10th position in the batting rankings.

Bowling and all-around rankings

Jasprit Bumrah led Indian bowling in the fifth T20I. He produced an outstanding spell of 2/17 in four overs. He jumped 10 places to 18th in the bowling rankings alongside Maheesh Theekshana (622).

Varun Chakaravarthy strengthened their position at the top of the table after a four-wicket haul. He now holds a score of 804, ahead of second-placed Jacob Duffy (699). Varun was also named Player of the Series after taking 10 wickets at an average of 11.20, including a four-wicket haul.

Meanwhile, India’s Hardik Pandya remained at fourth place overall.
