Mayweather entered the paid ranks in 1996 after winning a bronze medal at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, and over the next two decades established himself as the sport’s biggest draw.
He retired in 2017 with a perfect 50-0 recordthus becoming a five-weight world champion, from super featherweight to light middleweight.
Mayweather has defeated a number of big names during his career, including Manny Pacquiao, Oscar De La Hoya and Canelo Alvarez, cementing his place as one of the greatest boxers in recent memory.
Despite all this success, one Hall of Fame legend believes he would have had what it took to defeat Mayweather if they had faced each other.
The man in question is Thomas Hearns, who told ESNews why he thinks he would have had the advantage in a possible fantasy clash.
“If I fought Mayweather, he was too small for me, way too small.”
Hearns won his first world honors at welterweight, before moving up the ranks and becoming the first boxer in history to win world titles in five divisions, having also won gold at light middleweight, middleweight, super middleweight and light heavyweight.
“The Hitman” was known for his devastating knockout powerwith 48 of his 61 victories coming by stoppage, perhaps showing why Hearns is so confident he could have defeated Mayweather if they had fought.
