Vignesh Puthur makes history with 6 A-list catches



Kerala bowler Vignesh Puthur became the first cricketer to take six catches in a List A match. The historic moment came on his List A debut for the state against Tripura on Wednesday.

Kerala opened their campaign with a 145-run victory in the Vijay Hazare Trophy clash against Tripura in Ahmedabad.

Vignesh Puthur will play for Rajasthan Royals in the 2026 edition of the Indian Premier League. He joined them for INR 30 lakh at the IPL 2026 auction held in Abu Dhabi on December 16.

The 24-year-old spinner etched his name in the history books on Wednesday. He took six catches in the field as a non-wicketkeeper, including one off his own bowling.

Most catches as a defensive player (non-WK) in a List A game

South African cricketer Jonty Rhodes held the previous record for the most catches in a List A match. He took five catches while playing for South Africa against the West Indies on 14 November 1993.

England’s Harry Brook also took five catches as a fielder against the West Indies. Arien Sangma also took five catches in the field for Meghalaya against Sikkim in Mumbai on January 3, 2025, during the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
