A man from Colorado was charged with a federal hatred crime for his presumed role in an attack on the petrol bomb during a pro-Israeli gathering which injured eight people in Boulder, Colorado, officials of the application of state and federal laws announced on Monday.
Mohamed Sabry Soliman was already facing a range of state accusations, including an attempted murder, after the attack on Sunday against a group seeking to draw attention to the hostages seized during the attack led by Hamas against Israel in October 2023.
“No one should ever be subject to violence of all kinds, but our laws recognize that such violence is particularly pernicious when someone is targeted because of their race, their religion or their national origin,” said J. Bishop, lawyer, American lawyer for the Colorado district, during a press conference.
“My office and our partners hope that justice will help heal the inhabitants of this community and in the communities of the country shaken by yesterday’s attack.”
An affidavit filed by the United States Ministry of Justice said on Monday that Soliman, 45, had planned the attack for more than a year. Investigators found 14 Molotov cocktails filled with petrol near where the suspect was held.
Police also found a fuel cartridge in their car parked nearby and a weed sprayer filled with petrol on the scene. Soliman told investigators that he had learned to make Youtube fire bombs.
The Affidavit refers to a video published on social networks during the attack showing Soliman “shirtless, making rhythms from front to back while holding what seems to be Molotov cocktails”.
The suspect, who was detained instead of an American deposit of $ 10 million, according to official archives, told the police that he “wanted to kill all the Zionist people and wanted them to be all dead,” said the Affidavit.

“There are millions of people like this that we try to locate from the previous administration that were not properly projected that were authorized,” Lyons said at a press conference in Boston. “I’m going to tell you that it’s a huge effort for the ice right now.”
Lyon refused to provide more information, but a spokesperson for the Ministry of Internal Security previously said that Soliman had entered the country in August 2022 and asked for asylum the following month.
“The suspect, Mohamed Soliman, is illegally in our country,” said the spokesperson.
President Donald Trump said in an article on social networks that such attacks would not be tolerated. “This is yet another example of the reason why we have to keep our borders in security and expel the illegal anti-American radicals from our homeland,” he said.
Four women and four men between 52 and 88 years old were transported to hospitals after the attack, the Boulder police said. Sunday’s attack was not the first highly publicized incident of mass violence in Boulder, a university city that attracts many young outdoor professionals and enthusiasts. In 2021, a shooter fatally killed 10 people, including a police officer on leave, in a local supermarket.
