Jamie Vardy’s legendary chapter at Leicester City came to an end last season, but the 38-year-old cult hero is already making headlines in Italy after joining Serie A side Cremonese.
Vardy has signed an initial one-year contract with the newly-promoted club – which includes an option for a further 12 months – and so far the transfer is going smoothly. Cremonese are undefeated and sit third in the table, Vardy has made his debut and reports suggest he and wife Rebekah are settling in well. the sweet life with their two children.
The couple bought a £2million villa in Salò – historically infamous as Benito Mussolini’s home base and, coincidentally, now the hometown of Vardy’s new teammate Romano Mussolini (the dictator’s great-grandson).
In addition to enjoying their new surroundings, the Vardys are also taking Italian lessons. Jamie, however, particularly enjoys the more colorful parts of the vocabulary.
“Jamie and Becky already love the Italian life and are doing everything they can to integrate seamlessly. The whole family is taking Italian lessons and Jamie is already up to speed with some of the more colorful swear words,” a source said. The Sun.
Apparently his favorite so far is “Kiss my ass” – a not-so-polite phrase that loosely translates to “get lost.”
This fits Vardy’s reputation perfectly: he already said having deliberately learned swear words in the languages of his Premier League opponents to liquidate them during matches. Now it looks like he’s bringing those daring skills to Serie A, meaning Italian defenders could have more than just a headache chasing him.
