Pope Leo called for an end to world conflict during his first Christmas speech to crowds in St. Peter’s Square.
He used his Urbi et Orbi speech, traditionally delivered by the pontiff on Christmas Day to the faithful gathered in Vatican City, to address conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East, as well as Thailand and Cambodia.
“Let us ask God for justice, peace and stability for Lebanon, Palestine, Israel and Syria,” he said.
It was his first Urbi et Orbi speech as pope since his election on May 8.
