Liverpool’s search for short-term attacking cover following Alexander Isak’s injury has seen them evaluate a number of options across Europe.
The latest name to be linked with the reigning Premier League champions is Atletico Madrid striker Alexander Sorloth.
According to Radio Marcathe Spanish giants are reportedly demanding a fee in excess of £30million to part ways with the Norway international, a figure which has given Liverpool food for thought.
Sorloth had initially been floated as a potential loan solution after Alexander Isak suffered a serious injury which sidelined him for a crucial part of the season.
As Liverpool aim to avoid panic buying in January, a temporary addition that could offer experience and reliability in front of goal was considered an interesting option.
However, any realistic deal for Sorloth has always leaned towards a permanent transfer, which has never been fully aligned with Liverpool’s short-term planning.
At Atlético Madrid, Sorloth is seen as a valuable asset to the team rather than surplus to requirements.
Although he has not always been a confident starter, Diego Simeone appreciates his work rate and his ability to score crucial goals.
The striker scored 24 goals for the Spanish giants last seasonshowing consistency and ability to lead the attack.
As a result, Atlético has little incentive to allow a cut-price exit or mid-season loan, especially as domestic and European ambitions are still very much alive.

Liverpool’s hesitation is also shaped by the wider context of their team. The medical updates around Isak are increasingly positive, with hopes that the forward could return in the spring.
This delay reduced the urgency to commit significant funds to an interim solution, particularly one that would require significant fees and salaries.
Arne Slot may prefer to continue to trust his current attacking options, focusing instead on tactical adjustments and internal solutions until Isak is fit again.
A move from Sorloth at this stage seems highly unlikely for the Reds.
