Amir Khan has changed his mind on a potential fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, making a major reversal from his initial fight prediction.
In reality, several obstacles remain, particularly with regard to negotiations, which could once again prevent their confrontation from materializing.
But still, with Fury teasing a return to the sport, and ‘AJ’ stopping Jake Paul in the sixth roundperhaps the two Britons will finally face each other in 2026.
It appears Joshua must first complete his planned mission in February, when the two-time world champion is expected to face a far greater challenge than the one he experienced last Friday.
Fury, meanwhile, has not fought since his second points loss to Oleksandr Usyk in December 2024, with his retirement announcement coming shortly after.
But ‘The Gypsy King’, unsurprisingly, has since claimed he remains eager to make a dramatic comeback before facing his domestic rival next summer.
Like Joshua, Fury will look to have an interim fight in the first quarter of 2026, with more than a year having passed since his last outing by the time he returns to the ring.
For this reason, Khan, who previously picked Fury to beat Joshua, said Daily postal box that Joshua’s greater activity, albeit against Paul, could make their eventual clash a much more competitive spectacle.
“Because Tyson has been a little inactive, [he] it might take a fight or two to get back there.
“Before, I would have said Tyson, but now I would say it’s a 50/50 fight because ‘AJ’ has kept himself busy. Whereas, [with] Tyson, this layoff sometimes takes some weight off your shoulders.
